Robin Williams once said ‘everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.’ It can be hard to remember this fact, but it may feel all-so-clear when we think of ourselves. Most of us know what issues we’re facing, but we have a hard time addressing them. And it’s no wonder. We might only ever begin to address them years later, in therapy, or perhaps after things come to a head in your personal life

Perhaps you wish to start paying attention to your mental health, and really wish to make a difference. Yet, like any form of healthcare, mental health is not something you can just push around and dictate. It takes time, a nurturing energy, and the willingness to face the issues you may have been hiding from yourself. For some, it’s addressing their temper. For others, it’s starting to chip away at the iceberg of an eating disorder.

This is not to suggest that all mental illnesses can be self-directly worked on. In fact, few can be without outside help. However, if you believe you do have a personal vulnerability, how can you focus on it? How can you make a change for the better? We hope to help with this advice:

Honesty is the best policy

You need to be honest with yourself. Then, you can be honest with others. Finally, you might find yourself able to be honest about struggles you’re facing, or issues you would like to face with more clarity. It sounds so simple, but this effort is truly one of the most important measures you can take in life. Living authentically and ceasing the temptation to lie will help you understand your vulnerabilities – because now you know who you are. We always stress to children the importance of honesty, so maybe we should take our own advice on that point. Hiding our struggles and pushing them to the back of our minds and priority list can be damaging to our wellbeing and lifestyle as we will ignore them, let them fester and gather dust until one day it all becomes too much to handle. It’s better to deal with our troubles sooner rather than later to lead the best and most healthy life possible.

Take it day by day

A personal problem can be tough to resolve if you’re not careful. It can leave you feeling weak and under-appreciated. But you don’t have to climb Everest in a day. You just have to climb it step by step. One foot after the other. Day by day, over years if that’s what it takes. Build your own personal routine. Don’t compare yourself to who someone else is today. Compare yourself to who you were yesterday. That’s the best place to start – by far. You are doing your best and you deserve to be gentle with yourself. It’s ok if you aren’t as productive and proactive as you want to be each day, you are doing a fantastic job and good things take time. Go with the flow and do what is best for your mind, body and soul each day.

Use Professional Services

Use professional services to guide you. They can make all the difference in helping you take those initial steps. For instance, those suffering with Pornography related addiction often feel too shameful to talk about it. But the problem is so prevalent that many are in the same boat. Never believe you have a problem so big that it cannot be resolved. Also, never believe that you’re not worth the effort. Not only are these impressions untrue, but they can also actively prevent you from seeking help. With this advice, you’ll no doubt begin addressing those flaws in the best possible context. There are so many people on this earth facing problems and can feel ashamed, but little do they know that someone else has those very same struggles and has overcome them day by day. Anything is possible and you are not alone.

With this advice, we hope you can more easily begin addressing your personal vulnerability. Your work may be cut out, but it will be worth your time. You deserve to be happy and live the best life possible. Just take it easy and believe in yourself.

Stay wonderful!
