Lounas geeky gift guide | A very merry lockdown

14 December 2020 Be first to comment

This one is my favourite as it is such a huge topic that you can be really fun with the products and end up giving someone some super unique gifts. Being a self confessed and proud ‘Geek’ means the pictures I include are actually full of all of the geeky merchandise and memorabilia that I own. I’m a huge prop collector alongside my boyfriend and so this post is a very exciting one for me!

Pop vinyls

Pop vinyls were and still are a huge hit in the geeky community! The figurines have expanded and grown hugely in so many ways. They have become a classic gift for many type of persons including Disney lovers, superhero fans, gamers, film enthusiasts and many more. Pop vinyls now come in keyrings, miniature figures and even extra large ones including cars and accessories of the figure within the pop vinyl. My partner and I have a rather big collection of Pop vinyls ranging from Ecto-1 Car, Alien and baby Alien, Mandalorian to Nightmare before Christmas, Sherlock Holmes, Rick and Morty, Marvel, Harry Potter and Frankenstein to mention just a few hehe!

You can Purchase pop vinyls in loads of shops these days, from Supermarkets like Asda, geeky shops like Birminghams Forbidden Planet and Toy shops. I’d say this is an affordable gift and one that is unique and fun for the individual!

Memorabilia

In terms of memorabilia I’m talking famous actors signatures, film cells, limited collectables, souvenirs and tokens of remembrance for hardcore fans of films, sports teams and musicians. One thing I have always loved is signed vinyls as they scream hardcore fan and resemble everything you love about the band or musician and look awesome on your feature wall.

Owning a piece of memorabilia can help fans feel more connected to their favourite films or sports teams, and are great sentimental gifts. A little collectable I came across recently is the Master Brick shop which I talk about in my ‘Shop Small Gift Guide’. They create lego tiny figurines of superheroes, characters and make them just as figurines or add them onto a keyring or even inside hand sanitiser bottles! Here’s some I picked up for my family for Christmas.

Props & Replicas

If you’re going full whack with this one, you must really love the recipient as proper props and replicas can come with quite hefty price tags but you can also find some wonderful cheaper versions such as wands or shop bought childrens lightsabers.

We in fact have acquired quite a collection of Harry Potter wands, sonic screwdrivers and Lightsabers and I’d like to think the collection will be constantly growing.

Our newest additions are in fact the neutrona wand and proton pack from Ghostbusters and they are so much fun! We ordered our Proton pack kit from BenOfKentProps and are in the process of beginning to build it which is so much fun and gives us a fun project to do together. We really are embracing our geek-ness!

You can find many replicas and props on Etsy or even find some from Forums on Reddit for instance to find the best, most reliable businesses. We made sure to do our research on the best lightsaber distributors and other products as when you’re spending that kind of money you want to make sure you’re choosing the right company.

Games

Games are a great gift! This day and age there are so many different formats and types of games for every kind of person. You can narrow down your search based on what your recipient likes to do. Whether that be board games, card games, phone games, Nintendo games, Xbox games, PC or even PS4 games. You can find these in shops, supermarkets and even online which is a huge resource now that we are still within a global pandemic and for some of us, for me the UK we are in lockdown so shops aren’t currently available. The beauty of PC games are that you can buy a game on Steam and send it to the person directly through their steam so all they have to do is download and install it. Technology is a gift!

Speaking of Technology, gifts for some include consoles, phones, nintendo switches and even cameras. Of course these are the more high end gifts that can be quite strenuous on the wallet but you can buy second hand at companies like CEX and Ebay!

Speaking of games, If you enjoy them feel free to check out my review of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope this has helped shed some light and pass on ideas that could be useful for your geeky gift givings.

Stay wonderful!
