Tamatanga | Food Review

Wow mama! Tamatanga, what can I say? I actually crave the food from here every so often. It’s one place I could recommend a hundred times over. The food is delightful, the staff are friendly, the service is quick and the prices aren’t bad at all. Since I’m vegan, I of course can only personally vouch for the vegan options being grand, but after being twice and with others who are meat eaters, they have said how incredible their options were too!

Food & Drink

So, the exciting part; Sharing the delicious food with you. Honestly if you enjoy Indian cuisine, your mouth is about to water.

We had The Thali which is a selection of two curries, daal, sag aloo, five spice aloo, a side salad, chutney, popadoms and a vegan naan. We had the chickpea curry and bangin’ baigan ‘aubergine curry. Oh my word. How incredible this dish(es) is! It’s basically everything there is to try.

The menu is full of beautiful options. See that word ‘options’? Yep, Tamatanga have a huge amount of options for veggie and vegans and it’s just wonderful. I’d imagine they were mostly vegan anyway, since Indian cuisine is huge on veggie dishes. My favourites (very hard to choose) are the bangin baigan aubergine curry and the saag aloo.

We then had these incredible tama chips which are salty and flavoursome with a hint of spice. They are just beautiful. They are crispy but moist and just have the perfect blend of spices, flavours and textures. Whilst they are essentially, fries and I am much more of a chip person, I am constantly craving these!

Whilst chowing down on these delicious dishes, mum and I washed it down with this gorgeous non-alcoholic, refreshing beverage called ‘Bombay cooler’ which as Tamatanga states is sweet but fresh and cool and guaranteed to quench your thirst. It is pomegranate juice accompanied by cinnamon, lime, mint, coriander, pomegranate seeds and then all topped off with lemonade. What a drink! (Insert heart eyes emoji)

To officially end the experience of the delicious Indian flavours, we had the ‘mellow mango’ and ‘really raspberry’ sorbet. Both were delicious and cooling; Great palate cleansers. My one reservation would be that these were the only vegan options and it would’ve been nice to have the option.

Overall, delicious food that filled us up without making us feel the need to roll each other out the door to the taxi. The atmosphere was nice, decor was fresh but homely and it’s a place that makes you want to go time and time again.

Thank you so much for reading this post. Feel free to let me know in the comments if you’ve ever been or if you’d like to go.

Stay wonderful!
