Wow. Ok, so this is one of my first proper fantasy reads, since I’m a romance reader through and through. It was genuinely a shock to the system after sticking to more easier going reads, but that shock was indeed a good one! It kept me entertained for the entire week I read it and I constantly wanted to keep picking it up. The characters were charming and full of life, with a huge variety of different personalities too.

I felt weirdly fulfilled whilst reading Fourth Wing, and instantly wanted to become part of the world, despite how genuinely terrifying that would be. Rebecca Yarros writes in a way that makes me feel fully immersed and part of the world I’m reading.

I adore the characters, despite there being a lot to mentally keep track of, and the development that happens throughout it wonderful. It makes you feel as though you’re growing with them and seeing those trait and relationship changes first hand.

From the reviews and hype, I genuinely expected A LOT more spice, but I was happy with the level, although I do feel that the tension and anticipation deserved a tad more on the sexy side.

The ending was great but also painful! It’s a great cliffhanger, but I do feel like there could have been that little bit more added just to give it some more depth. It felt slightly rushed. I also was a little disappointed in the bonus chapters from Xaden. I don’t feel like they fully captured him as the person I’d come to love and admire throughout the book from Violets perspective. Maybe that’s the point though!

Overall, Fourth wing has blown me away. It’s magical, truly and has captured my heart and mind. I am however feeling like I might not read the rest of the series due to personal preference. I don’t like long series and just feel like the first book is enough for me at this point in time. The world within the story is huge and I do feel like I’ll lose myself a little if I continue to read Iron Flame and Onyx Storm, especially considering they aren’t even finished there!

Thanks for being an incredible author Rebecca! Amazing work πŸ™‚
