Blogosphere Community Challenge – June ( I won somehow!!)

In June, Blogosphere magazine’s community challenge was to create a magazine cover worthy self portrait using lots of creativity, props, materials, backgrounds and editing. I was so excited when I heard the challenge this month and I quickly started to think about lots of ideas. My big ol’ creative mind was so full of ideas and I actually did three separate shoots for this challenge and am so glad as I now have images to share on my socials!

I finally chose this single image below and if you keep reading you can find out how I did it!

Oh and I won!! I’m so chuffed I was good enough to have one of my favourite magazines and community’s choose my image after having so much self doubt rolling around in my mind.

What went into my self portrait

The process of my cover picture entry to the challenge was done in a very funny way and I just love that somehow it worked!

I had to get my partner to cello-tape a box I had cut to the ceiling over my bed. Since I’m tiny I couldn’t reach the ceiling so I was the sellotape holder and passer whilst he strategically and intensely taped it to the ceiling until it was strong enough to hold my phone and not fall on me mid shot (Imagine the picture of that…).

Once it was secure enough I spread out some faux leaves, pine cones, a garland, maple leaf fairy lights, wire fairy lights, an orange throw and of course me! I climbed gently into my nest of Autumn wonder after placing and turning on my photography lighting. Lewis had set the phone to selfie mode so I could slightly see the screen above me. I then had to use the hand sensor on my phone to take pictures without direct contact with the screen and this is how I spent most of the time shooting. I also mixed it up and took some in hand too as well as attempting some trickery with the fairy lights with Lewis taking pictures on my DSLR.

This image above is taken by me and from my phone, then edited on photoshop also by me.

Other images I took

Thank you for reading. I’d love to know your thoughts on the images and any fun shoots you have done.

Stay wonderful!
