Pastries!

The past few years we have discovered the wonderful dishes that can be made with pastry. We decided to buy some frozen pastry for easiness and experiment with pies, pasties, tarts and mini pies. We found them to be perfect for cold nights in and occasions such as Christmas and New years eve parties. The pies are great for Christmas and the mini tarts and mini pies are perfect for small buffets during your New years eve gathering.

Soups

One of my favourite things to make and eat is soup! There are so many variations and types for all likings and favourite tastes. Whether you like it chunky or thin, creamy or broth like, soup is a fantastic one to pop in for Christmas time during the cold weather.
People think that being vegan can limit my recipes but if anything it’s made me more adventurous with herbs and spices and various foods. I started trying new mixtures, sauces and all kinds of things. I then found my love of adding cream during the cooler months and fell in love all over again. We are forever winging it by just chucking in lots of veg and such and learning what works well together. Below are some soups we have around the Autumn and Winter months. We always have soup for starter on Christmas day since turning vegan. Before that we were always the prawn cocktail kind of gang!

Other warming dishes

Colourful mixed veg is wonderful for any dish during the cold seasons. We make up tonnes of veg like this for stir fry, curry, soup, stew and tarts.
There is nothing better than some roasted carrots and parsnips topped with a sweet kick of pomegranate seeds.
Homemade curry is just wonderful. It's sometimes a lengthy process with the fresh ingredients and herbs but the result is wonderful!

Sweet stuff

Head over to my blog post for more sweet treats here > Homemade Goodies <

It’s not Christmas without some sweet dishes on the menu for after we have finished our huge main meal, opening gifts and are ready to relax. A lot of people will buy ready made desserts but for me, I love baking. I love making different flavoured cakes, biscuits and treats that look great. There is nothing better than enjoying your own beautiful and tasty creation.

What is amongst your favourite Christmas and New years feasts?

Do you do homemade or shop bought?

Stay wonderful,
