Decorate Seasonally for a beautiful home | Collaborative post

Changing your decor around a little bit as the seasons change is a great way to mix up the decor of your home and keep things feeling fresh and pretty. Whether you want to celebrate the arrival of your favourite season, or just note the changing seasons, these decor changes don’t have to take up a lot of time or cost much money.

To decorate seasonally, look to the outside for inspiration and ideas. You don’t have to make drastic changes. With some switches to your soft furnishings, colours, and textures, you can create a seasonal feel, without making it feel like a theme. A few changes will make a lot of difference. Welcome the new season by changing out your decor! It’s super fun too

Spring decorating

As Spring arrives after a long Winter, look to nature for inspiration for your decor in your home. It’s the Season of fresh starts and changes, so let’s make the most out of it and feel inspired by the beautiful growth of flowers, plants, trees and nature in general

Add flowers

Bring in plenty of fresh flowers for vases around your house. If you’re not a fan of real flowers or are restricted on what you can have due to pets, kids, or allergies, use artificial flowers. Green plants work well too. Combine your flowers with glass, such as clear bowls and vases. Pots of flowers on your porch would be a nice touch for the entryway. I like to have a mix of real and faux succulents, cacti and flowers! It creates a lovely atmosphere and also helps purify the air

Change fabrics

Swap rugs and throw pillows into lighter fabrics and softer colours. You could change out your pillows altogether, or buy new covers for your existing ones. Change heavy window hangings for lighter ones that will let in more light, or for ones in a lighter colour or with a floral pattern. For a cohesive, look change your towels and bedding for lighter colours as well.

Summer decorating

There aren’t many changes between Spring and Summer, but your decor can reflect the greater heat and lazy days.

Add colour

A stronger colour in your colour scheme, such as a bright yellow, is perfect for the summer. Paint some corbels that can act as small shelves, and which can be switched in and out throughout the seasons to hold a few items in different colours.

Add a fan

If you live in a hot area, add a permanent ceiling fan. They’re a lot less unattractive to look at than most plug-in options and can be bought in some designs that will look chic. A quality fan will look better and last longer. Get an electrician to wire it in.

Fall/ Autumn decorating

As the cooler temperatures of Fall arrive, people start to stay inside. Make your home feel cozy and comfortable, ready for this change. I meant I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but I’m a tad bit obsessed with Autumn – I mean, if the name didn’t give it away, I don’t know what will!

Add heavier fabrics

Get out your thicker throw blankets and quilts. Drape these over your couches for snuggling in. Put away your lighter options, and switch out your bedding and towels for heavier fabrics. Take down your summer curtains, and trade them for something thicker, in a richer tone.

Deepen your colour and texture

Bring in some richer shades, such as reds, oranges, and browns. Change your summer colours and decor items for options in a warmer palette. Instead of summery pieces, choose shades that you would find in the leaves, or metals like brass and copper. Natural touches, such as leaves or pinecones, make nice touches too. You can also use some horror themed books and use them for display purposes to really get into the warmer, cosier season! You can also add in some spiced pot pouri with cinnamon sticks

Winter decorating

The Winter is the holiday season and is time for gathering the family together. Get your home ready to welcome all those guests and the coming holidays.

Create ambience

Add cosy scents. Choose basil, rosemary, or pine for a pretty scent. Bring a cozier element to your lighting with table lamps and floor lamps instead of using an overhead light. If you have enough space, rearrange your furniture around a fireplace, and add bits like logs from a Log Delivery company, ready for burning that will add to the atmosphere.

Get ready for the holidays

Holiday decorating gets more and more over-the-top, but you can bring the holiday spirit into the house without going wild. Some simple strings of lights, sprigs of pine or a wreath on the door are enough to add a holiday feeling without feeling like you’re going too far.

With seasonal decorating, you will constantly change things out. Don’t go too far with room colours or large pieces that will be annoying for you to move or change as the seasons change. You can create a seasonal vibe without making your home feel like a holiday display with just a few touches mixed in with your usual decor choices. You can create some seasonal ambience that feels natural and will be easy to change.

Thank you so much for reading! Seasons are so wonderful and really can motivate us for a new start. I hope these tips have helped you.

Stay wonderful!
