For today we will be talking Halloween decor! I am so dedicated to Halloween decorating, even before I had the kids living with us. I absolutely love the holiday season and how much fun it is. I love dressing up, watching horrors and creepy movies from my favourite film list and making the house into a new world! Now we have the kids, holidays become a whole lot more whimsical so we are trying to make this year cosy, fun and spooky.
As mentioned in my Autumn home decor post we love to use faux and real leaves, pumpkins, acorns and pine cones throughout our home during this lovely season. Alongside the more Autumnal decor we like to add a spooky twist to the home by adding tapestry, Halloween and Autumn themed candles, homemade craft goodies, bunting, wreaths, spooky ornaments and just general Halloween decor.

Mild spooks!
To be honest, since this year we now have three kiddies in the home, we have had to tone down the scary-ness of the decor! We are gutted we can’t do our usual extreme spooky stuff but we are happy with the little decor we have to set the scene. For our little feature unit in the lounge in the picture above we have got our ultimate Fall feature with two spooky additions from Asda; The skeleton spider and barking skeleton dog! The kids love them and they feed our scary wantings!
This year we have decided to do little decorations on the bedroom doors to give a little Halloween feel each evening and morning! Very child friendly and all good fun. On the kiddies door they have these cute signs on them from Asda and we, as always have a lovely Autumn wreath on ours.
Boo-k Case
One of my favourite places in my home is the book case. It is at the top of the stairs so unfortunately I can’t cosy up with a good book near it but I love decorating it and showcasing my book collection, especially my horror and crime ones during Halloween. I have loved using it to be a feature part of the house by putting Autumn leaves on, a haunted house sign and some pumpkins too!
Simple shelving spookiness
So now I have a lovely shelf in my room I have taken over and added my own little Halloween bits and bobs. Each day I see the shelf with the fun little gothic additions including candles, pumpkins both faux and real, pictures, skeleton ornaments, faux leaves and horror books! It makes me so happy to see them and puts a spring in my step. Sometimes it’s the small things and to be honest I permanently have the skeleton jewellery stand, skull top hat framed picture and the skeleton wendigo up on the shelves as I’m a huge horror, gothic and creepy fan all year round. So I suppose I just become more of myself during Autumn and Halloween which is awesome, exciting and fun! Embrace your weird.
Tapestry
Personally I love tapestry! I found that using them for our annual Halloween theme last year which was ‘The occult’ was so effective. It really set the scene and completely transformed the house. The tapestry can easily be taken down, used as general decor for your bedroom, backdrops for those of us who love taking pictures and for those who like me, love gothic decor!
Although we have a rather quirky and light wallpaper and colour scheme in our lounge, we have a black fire place and have used this as a gothic tie in which matches the Halloween and Autumn decor perfectly! I have used a black garland here and added in some homemade dried oranges and apples, some acorns, sunflowers and faux leaves. We then have a big scary, spooky noise making pumpkin and tree creepy faces!
I got this from the poundshop! It was £3 and makes for a budget friendly, fun decoration for in the house or even in your garden. We have propped ours up by the side of our bookcase and it fits perfectly!
This post has been short, simple and sweet. Not as in depth as I’d like but things have been so intense at home and I am always real with you all! Sometimes we don’t have as much time as we feel but that’s ok.
