Reading The Silence of the lambs has been a wild and wonderful ride. I. Adore. This. Book. Simple. There you go, review done. Byyyyeee! No but seriously I have really loved reading this fantastic book by Thomas Harris.  It’s everything I could possibly want in a book; Serial killers, crime, ballsy investigator, gore and awesome storyline. I am so pleased with this book. I read it in about four or five sittings. I could’ve read it quicker but I had some very short sittings during really busy days. I actually finished this book the morning of my aunts send off. Just like Eleanor Oliphant Is completely fine, I have really used reading as a coping mechanism during tough times and that day I needed a release, so I finished this book and it felt right.

This book is part of a series and after reading this, my gosh am I ready to dive into the others? I cannot wait to purchase them and get cosy with them. This book is about the legendary fictional serial killer and psychiatrist Dr Hannibal Lecter. By this book he is already incarcerated but in a criminal asylum. The FBI reach out to student Clarice Starling and work together to use Lecter’s expertise and ego to help them solve a case against a new serial killer they call ‘Buffalo Bill’ who is taking women, torturing, killing and skinning them for a personal project of his.

Thomas Harris does not hold back on the details which I love. There is gore, anticipation and I genuinely felt nervous with butterflies (or moths *wink*) in my stomach during the last few chapters. It’s written really well within quite a short length in my opinion and there is enough detail to make the story awesome whilst not going overboard. It flows well and the sections are well sequenced.

I took my reading outside in the garden during a sunny day. The air was crisp and I cosied up with blankets, food and drink and sat reading which was lovely. A perfect way to go into March. It feels like Spring has sprung upon us early and it was a lovely way to spend my time reading this awesome book.

Overall I am really happy with this book. It has been a great way to cope with my struggles recently and has made me really intrigued to read the other books within this world of Hannibal and really has picked me up after my very bizarre read of The Woods by Vanessa Savage and how that book made me feel. If you’re into serial killers and crime, I definitely recommend this. Thomas Harris has done a fantastic job!

Thank you so much for reading. Let me know if you have read this or if you’d like to read it.

Stay wonderful!
