Veggie Master – Birmingham Takeaway review

One shiny day a leaflet came through the door. It was a leaflet for a takeaway in my area called ‘Veggie Master’ and their Indian cuisine ‘Veggie Tadka’. The word ‘Veggie’ is literally a glimmering word that pulls me in. Like most nowadays, I order takeout over online services like JustEat and Deliveroo so when a leaflets comes through It’s often overlooked, but when I saw the words Veggie and Vegan on them I was very intrigued.

One night we’d not been in the mood to cook and fancied something different so I decided to order a mixture of food to test and write about and (hopefully) enjoy.

Family Chicken bucket

The family chicken bucket was interesting. It included 8 veggie southern fried chicken, 2 veggie drumsticks, chips and a can of pop. It was quite minimal but we only wanted to try it and get a taste of what kind of quality the food was, especially the mock meat! Overall the chicken was nice. It was a nice mixture of being moist and crispy. The flavours were good and it was filling. The drumsticks were strange but tasty! I have never had a fake bone so I was confused at the hard part in the middle. One I realised though, it made sense! The chips were tasty and who can complain about choosing a can of pop.

Southern fried chicken burger

This burger was absolutely delicious! It was moist in the middle and slightly crispy on the outside. The bun was good too and it was overall just very tasty. The only thing I would say is that the second time I had the burger, it was unbelievably spicy, so much so that we had to take off the southern fried batter coating and just eat the chicken. The first time it was perfection but the second time they had clearly changed it and it’s made us dubious about our next order!

Fish and Chips

The first time I tried the fish, I was in heaven. It was sooooo good. Again so moist, delicious and a lovely sized portion. It’s something I’d order time and time again. However again, the second time we ordered they had changed it. There was so much paprika on it that the batter felt paste-y. I hope they change it back as I miss it!

The Kebabs

The Kebabs we had were the Donnor and the shish. Both were nice. They were in a pitta bread with salad, mint sauce and a spicy chilli sauce. The meat was similar to one another but it was a nice texture and tasted nice. It was strips of vegan meat and it seems similar to a brand I’ve had from supermarkets. I found the chilli sauce too spicy but it could be lovely for others!

We will definitely order again and try the Vegan pizza’s and calzones as well as the noodle & pasta dishes. We also want to try the Veggie Tadka Indian food which sounds divine! Have you tried this takeout before? If so, let me know in the comments!

Thank you for reading. I hope you have enjoyed this post. It is great to share feedback on food and takeouts.

Stay wonderful!
