COVID-19 can be a tough topic. Staying safe means staying indoors, and if you’ve been isolating alone, you know that staying safe could affect your mental health. However, the pandemic brings some pleasant surprises too and that’s what I’ll focus on here. More and more people have been observing a renewal of wildlife in their area. Bees, birds, and wild animals are filling the streets, parks, and gardens. They have been enjoying life without car fumes. For the first time since you’ve been living in town, you’re awakened by the songs of birds in the morning rather than the vroom of engines. It’s a lovely feeling during a pandemic. Perhaps, you’ve also embraced gardening as your light in the dark of COVID-19. I know I have!

It can be super fun

Gardening is a hobby that keeps on giving. A lot of people have started gardening during the lockdown. The first reason for it is that it’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time outdoors when the sun is out and it isn’t too breezy. But, you’ll soon fall in love with the seedlings you’ve planted. Watching them turn into a healthy and robust plant gives you an immediate sense of satisfaction. It feels good. Giving back to nature always does. Besides, it’s a relaxing activity that helps you soothe dark thoughts. Plus fresh air is good for your mental and physical health. Speaking of air, I know you’re probably wondering how to sort out the excess leaves, grass and weeds when picked. How about investing in a leaf blower? Like one you can purchase after reading some of the reviews on TheBestLeafBlowers.com perhaps? Ultimately, there are some fantastic leaf blowers on the market nowadays so be sure to compare a few different options online before deciding which one to buy.

You don’t need to know everything about plants

If you’ve started gardening for the first time, it can feel daunting. Plants have a variety of needs and requirements. Some might prefer direct sunlight, while others are happy in the shades. Your soil also can make a huge difference between a healthy bloom and a struggling bush. Are you pruning your trees properly, or even at the best time? How can you unpot flowers safely to place them in your garden? Thankfully, gardening is not one of those things you need to study. You can learn as you go, figuring out more about each plant as you care about them. You can easily tune in to online tutorials to find out how to improve your kit. For anything too involved, you can reach out to experts for professional tree services. The bottom line: You don’t have to be an experienced gardener to start enjoying it!

With a little time you can achieve wonders

It is a unique situation that gives us plenty of time to see our projects to the end. Creating a beautiful garden takes time. But guess what? Time is precisely what you’ve got right now! If you’re not sure where to start, take a look at what this brilliant couple in the West Midlands has managed to achieve in their garden. Carefully chosen bushes, trimmed trees, and regular maintenance are the key to an artful display. You can also section your garden into certain types and colours!

We recently took a trip to our local Aldi where we took the opportunity to buy lots of plants to spruce up our garden and force ourselves to get out and enjoy fresh air and get those rays in hehe. Waking up and seeing beautiful plants of different shapes, sizes and colours is truly wonderful and makes your garden come to life!

Everything tastes better when you grow it yourself

Now’s the best time to consider growing your own food. It takes months to grow some such as potatoes, for instance. But you can quickly and easily get some vegetables and salads in your garden. Fresh tomatoes, baby cucumbers, and sweet and crunchy leaves can be ready in a matter of weeks! And, you can be sure no shop-bought salad can rival!

The lockdown has encouraged more and more people to reclaim control of their gardens. As a hobby, it is relaxing and guarantees plenty of vitamin D. But it’s also approachable, regardless of your gardening know-how and experience. With time, you can learn plenty and achieve wonderful – and sometimes delicious – results. We have recently replanted our Pepper plant after having it for over a year and getting some delicious peppers from it! We have also started growing pumpkins ready for Autumn to make some delicious pumpkin recipes and even for decor around the house.

Another way to spruce up your gardening routine it by adding some home grown herbs! They look great, taste great and it’s much harder to run out hehe.

Have you taken up some gardening since being in lockdown? If so what have you been planting and has it helped you?
Stay wonderful!
